On December 23, 1923, twenty visionary women chartered Xi Omega as the first Alpha Kappa Alpha graduate chapter in Washington, D.C. Many of them were educators in the District of Columbia, unified by their commitment to service and scholarship. Over the past century, Xi Omega has upheld this legacy through educational initiatives, community engagement, and advocacy.
Throughout its history, Xi Omega has championed education, hosting college fairs, supporting academic achievement, and leading youth enrichment programs. Our impact extends beyond education, with initiatives promoting healthcare, economic empowerment, civic engagement, and social justice. From voter registration drives to youth mentorship programs, our chapter has continuously served the Washington, D.C. community with dedication and excellence.
As we commemorated 100 years of impact, Xi Omega Chapter has hosted a series of events to celebrate our legacy and commitment to sisterhood and service.
Our centennial has garnered media recognition, showcasing the chapter’s influence and achievements:
Xi Omega extends heartfelt gratitude to our Centennial Legacy Club donors, whose generosity has helped make this celebration a success. Their commitment ensures our legacy continues for generations to come.
As we reflect on 100 years of sisterhood and service, we look forward to building an even greater future together.
